Restorative Dentistry

Restorative dentistry refers to any treatment that repairs or replaces damaged teeth. Such treatments can include crowns, fillings, teeth whitening, dental bridges, aligners, implants and much more.  At Family First Dental in Richland, WA, restorative dentistry is just one of the many specialized dental areas we are trained in. Whatever your problem, we can give you back your smile and your confidence!

Dental Fillings

A dental filling can restore a tooth once a cavity is detected early and deep decay has not set in. Amalgam fillings were once the standard filling material but since concerns were raised about their mercury content, they have been phased out. At Family First Dental, we want to offer our patients the safest possible treatment. That’s why we use a composite resin material for our fillings. Not only is it safer, composite fillings are also tooth-colored to give you more of a natural look. Another plus of these fillings is they are not sensitive to temperature changes so eating and drinking won’t be a problem!

Inlay & Onlays

Inlay and onlays help repair moderately damaged teeth and can be a cheaper alternative to a crown for this purpose. Inlays and onlays are placed either between or over the cusp (the sharp, top edge) of the tooth depending on the issue. Inlays fit inside the cusp to seal the tooth while onlays go over the tooth, closing a gap entirely. Inlays and onlays can provide that extra support, allowing you to keep your natural tooth and prevent any further damage from happening.

Dental Bridges

Dental bridges are used to replace missing or broken teeth, helping to restore someone’s smile. They span the gap of a missing tooth returning structure and aesthetics. Most bridges are secured to surrounding abutment teeth, but we can also secure them to a dental implant for improved security.

Dentures

Dentures are an appliance that can replace multiple missing teeth by wearing them over the gums. They are removable and typically made life-like with resin teeth. There are two types of dentures available – full and partial. Full dentures completely replace all your teeth improving your facial structure and ability to eat, smile and talk. Partial dentures are made for those only missing a few teeth and want to improve their appearance. Dentures can have a life-changing effect so if you are suffering with tooth loss, don’t hesitate to visit our Richland, WA clinic for a consultation.

Wisdom Tooth Removal

Wisdom tooth removal is a common procedure to extract the late developing back molars which can cause discomfort and overcrowding. Removal is performed as a day surgery and typically takes 45 minutes. Sedation dentistry will be used so you don’t feel any discomfort during surgery. Treatment will be carried out by one of our dedicated dental teams and they will be there to advise you on post-surgery care and answer any questions you may have on the procedure.
